EDITORIAL METHODOLOGY
How We Verify Figures
Fees come from official documentation. Revenue and market share come from the DefiLlama API. Anything we could not confirm is labeled unverified rather than smoothed into a claim.
Primary Sources
The comparison pages ranking for these queries mostly publish orderings with no dataset behind them, which is why we print a source and a date next to every number. Specifically:
- GMGN's official documentation (docs.gmgn.ai) for the 1% trading fee, priority and tip fee limits, slippage guidance, error codes, wallet behavior and withdrawal rules. Every doc page is also available as Markdown, which is what we read rather than scraping the rendered site.
- The DefiLlama fees API for revenue, market share, per-chain splits and referral payout rates, queried directly rather than taken from search snippets. Trailing windows are stated with the date they were pulled.
- GeckoTerminal's public API for the live prices and charts on the markets pages, fetched in the browser on each page load.
- Competitor documentation (docs.axiom.trade, Photon's GitBook, docs.trojan.com, docs.maestrobots.com, docs.bonkbot.io) for every rival fee rate in the comparison hub. We never restate a competitor's fee from a third-party article.
- GMGN's terms of service and privacy policy for custody, jurisdiction and restricted-country claims, read from the documents themselves rather than summarized secondhand.
What We Do When Sources Disagree
They disagree more often than you would expect. GMGN's wallet documentation says private key export is prohibited on every chain; its terms of service say you retain control of your private keys. When two primary sources conflict, we publish both and say which one matches observable behavior instead of picking the flattering one.
We also refuse to publish a number we can tell is broken. DefiLlama's BullX fee adapter reports $192 over 30 days because it is summing one-lamport markers after fee collection moved to an untracked address, so we leave BullX out of fee tables and say why rather than printing a figure that would read as a business collapse.
Review Cadence
Every guide carries a Last Updated date. Pages quoting exact fees, error codes or market-share figures also carry a Last Verified date, which is the last time a person re-checked the figure against its source.
Fee, custody and troubleshooting pages are re-checked monthly, because those are the ones where being stale actually costs a reader money. Comparison and ecosystem pages are re-checked quarterly or whenever the DefiLlama series moves materially. Market data widgets fetch fresh on every page load.
Limitations
Some things are simply not published. GMGN does not disclose its referral tier thresholds, its payout cadence or any minimum payout threshold, and we say so rather than inventing a table. Chain support on Monad, MegaETH and Hyperliquid L1 shows in DefiLlama's data but appears nowhere in GMGN's docs, so we describe it as real but undocumented. Trailing-window figures drift, and GMGN's own annual numbers are distorted by a single month, October 2025, that produced 31% of its trailing-year fees during the BNB Chain memecoin mania. Where a claim rests on one secondary report, we name the report.
Reporting Outdated Figures
If a figure here looks wrong, tell us. The fastest route is a direct message to @Concept211 on X or an email through the contact page. Include the URL, the figure and the source you are comparing against, and we re-verify and update within 48 hours on average.
Editorial Independence and Disclosure
GMGNGuide earns from GMGN's referral program, disclosed in full on the referral page and the about page. That relationship does not decide what we publish. Axiom collects more than twice GMGN's fees and charges a lower effective rate, and we say so on the comparison hub. GMGN prohibits private key export on every chain, and we lead the security section with it. We would rather be accurate than favorable, because the alternative is worth less to everyone.
